Registration No. BBE 4 Chassis No. 12539 Engine No. T.B.A. Ivory with original black leather interior. Right hand drive. The metal workshops of the Peugeot Brothers made everything from coffee mills to corset stays. They prospered in the fin du siece bicycling boom, when motorised vehicles were also added. A model called the "Bebe" was an ear1y success and a completely new version arrived in 1913 from the drawing board of none other than Ettore Bugatti, who was by then producing cars under his own name. Only 3,095 examples of the Bebe were produced in the years between 1913 and 1916 (compared with around 13,000 other Peugeot 4 wheelers). These are now recognised as highly significant small cars and the undoubted inspiration for the original Austin 7. This Peugeot "Bebe" was purchased by the vendor in 1968. It has a correct 4 cylinder monoblock engine although following a period of dry stoage over the past 6 years a small amount of re-commissioning prior to use might be necessary. The paintwork and original black leather interior is in generally well preserved condition, and it has a lovely set of Lucas "King of the Road" acetylene headlamps and sidelamps. The coachwork is particularly attractive, and the brass fittings and ivory paintwork all complement this cars delightful appearance. It has a Stepney spare wheel together with a rear luggage rack and carries V.C.C. dating certificate number 1014. 'The appropriate registration no. BBE 4, is included with the lot.
