1939 DELAHAYE TYPE 165 "Figoni et Falaschi Cabriolet" Owned by Peter W. Mullin Engine: V-12 How many superlatives can be written for one automobile? Certainly it would be difficult to find more exciting coachwork or a more interesting history than this grand Parisian possesses. built for the 1939 World's Fair in New York, it was held by U.S. Customs until the end of the war when it was purchased by filmaker Roger Barlow. Since the show car's engine was found to be an empty shell with no parts available, Mr. Barlow installed a Cadillac V-8. The car's whereabouts from 1946 to 1965 are still unknown, but in 1981 this very forlorn and poorly maintained World's Fair showpiece was discovered in Fresno, California in the hands of two elderly ladies. Eventually Peter Mullin and Jim Hull purchased the car and spent eight years restoring it. They had also found the original engine in the collection of Count Dunhoff in Germany and after a five-year restoration the engine was reunited with the automobile. C'est Magnifique!!
