1947 TALBOT LAGO "Type 26 Grandsport Coupe" Owned by Peter W. Mullin Engine: 6 cyl. Some of the most flamboyant and expensive coachwork ever to come out of France was the work of Jacques Saoutchik, an expatriate Russian cabinet maker. This exquisite Grandsport coupe was designed by Saoutchik for the 1947 Paris Auto Show and placed on chassis # 1. The interior of this car is the original one done for the Paris Show and features gold plated bezels on the dash and door handles. Before becoming part of Peter Mullin's outstanding collection of French cars, this automobile was part of the "Blackhawk" collection. Prior to that the car had been owned by "Frenchy" Harguindeguy who had obtained it from an individual in Ohio who had found it. Although this particular Talbott has never been raced, the Grandsport engine was raced in LeMans in 1953.
